It doesn’t take much for people to add a great deal of weight. An injury. Value meals. HFCS. Doritos.
The 600 lb life people clearly need surgery, but even most of them fail.
Weight loss has its own set of obstacles. “Improve your diet and exercise! Jesus, it’s easy!!”
Turns out it’s not. Weight loss inevitably will include muscle, and lost muscle means lower BMR. People following diet and exercise precisely with no changes WILL hit a wall. They will be defeated by their own success. BMR going down forces them to do more to achieve the same thing, and most people will not know this. Frustration arrives, and then resignation to failure.
It’s pretty easy for people to add 40-50 pounds during an injury. It’s not easy, per the above, to erase them after it heals.
It’s an astonishing thing to discover that eating 500 fewer calories than you burn per day loses weight effectively for a couple of months and then stops. I watch it happen often. If you don’t get in the ear of that person, they will give up.

I am concerned about some of them in close proximity to me, depending how they are acting. I might not be able to push some of them off me if the worst possibility occurred.
