OTOH, some women can breastfeed years after having had a child. Takes a while to start that engine but it does happen. Grandmothers can lactate. (Some; not all.)
“As many women as possible ought to be nursing...”
True. This has always been true. We’ve strayed from this standard for a host of reasons, foremost among then convenience. In this way, at any given moment in time, our population of just-given-birth moms, combined with those women’s babies, naturally crying out for nutrition, is a sitting duck, incredibly vulnerable to abuse and heartless attack by Godless atheists, satanists and population control/population reduction freakshows. As if on cue, now that the Bad Orange Man is out and Brandon and his minions and puppeteers are in, this seems to be exactly what is happening. This has all the hallmarks of an intentional domestically-originated holocaust.
‘Some Women’ don’t have babies at all, so this is not a problem for them, either.
That isn’t a solution to this problem.
Thanks for the info.
HG, it might be good for you to try seek true connections with the people around you. Sarcasm is fun sometimes for the person engaging in it at the time. But that’s about as far as its utility goes. Those to whom sarcasm is directed virtually never change what they are doing in response to it. For others who see it or hear it merely increases their stress or pain. The most mature among us have sworn it off as unacceptably antisocial and sociopathic.
Move on up to irony and satire, HG. More high-minded and likely to get the desired reaction without undue collateral damage.
And lots of infants are difficult to feed - they have various allergies to some formulas. I’ve heard many people talk lately of how difficult it was to find THE ONE that their baby could tolerate.
Also, it’s another case where you have to be wary of the expiration dates on the products.
___________
Great points, says what I failed to say in my 28. These moms must be going out of their minds. Plus only Brandon is around to blame, the Bad Orange Man having never touched this baby covered with a dark colored and extremely sticky petrolueum-based product closely associated with La Brea, California.
Do you think the seeming society-wide shuft away from common ingredients and toward reliance on seemingly highly-engineered formulas (formulae) was unwise?
Do you think it was imposed upon society to set it up for a crisis such as this?
I was a lot more sarcastic in my young years (believe it or not). I toned it down simply because it hurt people unnecessarily - and it was often merely an ego-prompted thing.
(But I proudly backslide, when it’s truly useful...it’s sorta like swearing.)
Oh HELL no. That's how you get Covid and MunkyPox.
Sarcasm is fun sometimes for the person engaging in it at the time.
It IS. I like it pretty fine.
Those to whom sarcasm is directed virtually never change what they are doing in response to it
Well I don't care. Ain't my job to change anyone's mind.
For others who see it or hear it merely increases their stress or pain.
If they disagree with me and have stress or pain.. that's supposed to be bad somehow?
The most mature among us have sworn it off as unacceptably antisocial and sociopathic
Your nursing home's policy interests me not at all.
The "most mature" goobers are eating pudding and wearing diapers.
Move on up to irony and satire, HG.
Movin' on up, to the East Side...
More high-minded and likely to get the desired reaction without undue collateral damage.
Did you just assume my "desired reaction"?
You’ve got sticktoitiveness.
I’ll give you that.🥴
Some women’s milk doesn’t come in, there isn’t enough, the baby isn’t thriving or the mother just can’t get comfortable breast feeding and or pumping. Personal choice or no choice—it’s all alright.
I breast fed mine because I found it less trouble to pack up and go. My friend and me took our sons to the zoo and that trip proved me just what a pita bottles were. She had a bunch of trouble and worry, I just needed a receiving blanket.
In a first world rich country a mother and child could have confidence that whatever their choice or situation is feeding wasn’t a problem. It’s no longer so and our problems are more numerous than formula.
He doesn’t have much else to do.
My trajectory was similar.
With the exception of the backsliding, thankfully.
I tend to recall all of the bad things that arise out of the practice and then find some other way to express myself that doesn’t involve the “net negative” calculus that is always associated with sarcasm. It’s hard to describe all the reasons why it is just bad. Badzo.
yeah I know
I see it as a rhetorical device. I’m not sure if it comes under dysphemism, hyperbole or litotes, but it’s in there somewhere in usage if not in the actual scholarly definitions...
I’m pretty ignorant on the subject but how did the world survive before baby formula?
C’mon parents, surely you can figure out how to feed your kids without baby formula.
Geezus, we are hopless.
“...rhetorical device...”
__________
If so, surely one best used sparingly.
Like a kangaroo without hind legs.
No hops.
Nice post..that was our experience also.
