I am far from a pizza gourmet, but when our cruise of the Black Sea terminated in Rome we made it a point to get a slice from a busy little shop near the train terminal.
If what we got was “authentic Italian pizza”, I’ll take American pizza any day.
IF YOU live in California, Blaze Pizza has 100 locations. To see if there are locations near you, go here:

Jersey Shore circa 1972 or so. Never had better.
Sorry. Domino’s tastes like a kitchen sponge that as been soaking in a pot that was used to make the Sunday gravy. Only toasted and with fake cheese on top.
When I was in college in the late sixties, four of us guys rented a house a few blocks from capus. One of our number worked at Greg’s Volcano Pizza. Occasionally he would bring a pizza someone phone ordered but didn’t pick up. The pizza was so delicious and Conrad would top it with extra stuff and pop it int he oven -again- to meld everything together. Those second cooked pizzas were sooo good! I can’t remeber ever having a fresh Greg’s pizza, just the second baked kind. OH, and Conrad would slather the underside with EVOO before the second baking.

Wow, So many pizza elitists.
Sure, some are very lucky to have great pizza joints in their area. Most people, not so lucky.
And yes, making your own is an option if resources, energy, and time allows. Many folks still enjoy any pizza perk they can wrangle. Which explains the success and endurance of so many franchises and even the modest frozen cheapies. 😁👍
Stand by your pizza.
:)
Happens every time 'Pizza' is in the title, no matter what the story is about.
I knew the elitists were going to come out of the woodwork when I read the title.
As for me, I think Domino's is OK, not great but decent. I put it in the league with Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Hungry Howie's, etc. Some people swear it's better than the others but I don't see it. They supposedly changed the pizza a few years ago to better quality, it seems the same as it always was to me.
It's not as good as the boutique NY style pizza places in the northeast, but it doesn't cost what they usually do either. Pizza is like a blow job, even the worst ones are still really good.
🙂
Does it come with pineapple? If not...
Not everything is politics.
Sally’s, Pepe’s, Modern and The Spot in New Haven. Best pizza. Don’t care about their politics.
Yea Star Tavern!!
Dominos was garbage for a long time. They reinvented their recipes about ten years ago... I was impressed with the last couple pies I ordered. They were very good. Not the best but tasty.
However. The best pizza I had was in a small village in Italy at an underground restaurant just outside Verona.
“I grew up in northern New Jersey, where the prevalence of Italian families and our proximity to the Big Apple meant you could find a slice any given moment at any of the two dozen joints in a 10-mile radius.“
—————
Only 2dozen in a 10-mile radius? Guy musta grown up in the sticks…in most small towns there are at least a half dozen, and towns run into each other. 50-100 is more like it.
“…where it seemed like every other shop was either a pizza place or a pastrami sandwich shop.”

Hey, pal, it’s a “sammich.” Don’t make that mistake again, or da boyz will hafta have a word wid you.
