Rush’s shows are still available on Rush 24x7. Much of what he said is applicable today.
Ms Hynes allowed Rush to use the song because her late Dad loved his show .
She is a class act .
Still miss Rush.
Not interested in buck travis or whoever the heck tried to take over his slot, and used his music to boot. Shameful hacks.
Damn I miss you Rush!
I never realized this was the intro to a Pretenders song.
Wow.
South Howard had disappeared
All my favorite places
My city had been pulled down
Reduced to parking spaces
Ay, oh, way to go, Ohio
Well, I went back to Ohio
But my family was gone
I stood on the back porch
There was nobody home
I was stunned and amazed
My childhood memories
Slowly swirled past
Like the wind through the trees
Ay, oh, way to go, Ohio
I went back to Ohio
But my pretty countryside
Had been paved down the middle
By a government that had no pride
The farms of Ohio
Had been replaced by shopping malls
And Muzak filled the air
From Seneca to Cuyahoga Falls
Said, ay, oh, way to go, Ohio
I’m glad they are retiring it. Painful reminder he’s gone. Miss him so much.
In the fwiw department, I wanted Cat Scratch Fever.
He played that a few times during the copyright mess.
5.56mm
Can I use it as my ring tone?
When Rush played that song the morning after the 2004 election and said, “Way to go, Ohio”, it was one of his most epic moments.
They might as well. There is absolutely no connection to Rush other than the time slot.
I miss him terribly. Talk Radio has basically become just another strident noise.
Up until now, it always seemed that they were using the studio until Rush came back, and didn’t want to change too much. Now, We know that it’s their show now.
Of all the talk radio heads left, Chris Plante is the only one who comes within ten miles of Rush. The rest fall way short.
Mutt and Jeff using it to start with only made it seem like they were hoping to glom fame and credibility from Maha Rushie.
Always wondered exactly how Chrissie Hynde felt about the Maha Rushi and the EIB using that Pretenders riff.
That’s my default ringtone on my phone.
