LOL! Can anyone remember back to 1968 when MGM re-released GWTW in wide screen format? They trimmed each frame at the top and bottom.

One character lost his head in one scene with Ward Bond.

A black woman did a rewrite of Gone With the Wind from the viewpoint of the slaves, which she entitled The Wind Done Gone. I saw it in a bookstore but didn't read it--I don't know if anyone is interested in making it into a movie.
