Victor Davis Hanson, eminent classicist, provides this warning to Americans in the lead of his most recent article at Epoch Times, updated May 16:
Americans are now entering uncharted, revolutionary territory. They may witness things over the next five months that once would have seemed unimaginable.
It may prove in this momentous decade that the American Empire falls. But take heart, because the fall of the empire — aren't all empires finally a bundle of conceits destined to collapse? — may lead to the revival of the American Republic.
The visions of empire and republic are as starkly different as George Washington and the founders were from Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Much of what constitutes the "American Empire" is a product of progressive doctrine. It was about domestic imperialism perhaps far more than American global dominance. Restoring the republic should be welcomed by citizens dedicated to our nation's founding principles.
We're reaching a culmination. The left's decades-long march through America's institutions succeeded. They control government, corporations, health care, sciences, media, arts and entertainment, education, nonprofits, sports...right down to the Boy and Girl Scouts. They seek to consolidate their control in a handful of larger institutions (government and corporations, principally). An American "reset" is a precursor to a global reset, per the lunatic vision of Klaus Schwab and his acolytes.

Owning real estate in the areas people are escaping to might provide some protection — for a little while. JMHO
I’m afraid you are right. The majority of people “dedicated to our nation’s founding principles’ are aging out and passing from the scene. The country’s “founding principles” have scarcely been taught to recent generations, and are unknown to the bulk of the populace today. Just ask any current student what “federalism” means and why it is desirable. Ask about the 9th and 10th Amendments. You will draw a blank stare. If you really want to mystify them, ask about the role of natural law in the founding of the republic.
“One of the things taken out of the curriculum was civics.
Civics was a class that used to be required before you could graduate from high school. You were taught what was in the U.S. Constitution. And after all the student rebellions in the Sixties, civics was banished from the student curriculum and was replaced by something called social studies. Here we live in a country that has a fabulous constitution and all these guarantees, a contract between the citizens and the government – nobody knows what’s in it…And so, if you don’t know what your rights are, how can you stand up for them? And furthermore, if you don’t know what’s in the document, how can you care if someone is shredding it?”

How true. Most ‘Americans’ are beyond caring about such things these days. But then again I suppose most colonists were not patriots during our revolution either. So perhaps there’s still some hope that there are enough people who care about founding principles to lead the way toward a restoration of the things this country once held dear.
If not, this country and everything that made it great is rapidly disintegrating right before our eyes.
The DS controls everything...the DOJ. FBI, etc. They block the Republicans and it’s impossible to do anything that is effective about it.. Everything is in place to block them.
How the hell do you think the Clintons have gotten away with everything?
There are a lot fewer people in South America than there were only a year ago.
<>We need a Constantine, ASAP. Is Trump him?<>
He would be if he took the lead of an Article V Convention of the States.
We’re supposed to keep voting.
As if it matters.
Even when Republicans are “in control” they do nothing.
They are a joke.
That’s right. We’re supposed to vote for the liars and backstabbers who refuse to fight for us.
Trump earned out votes. The GOP doesn’t.
We’re still under the reign of the “Five Good Emperors” in Ancient Rome. But you can see the decay. Our Congress is corrupt. Bread and circuses for the masses.
I agree. And they are outgunned and out-manuevered and blocked so it makes it worse.
Republicans are outgunned. No question about it. They have to go up against the Dems, their allies in the Deep State, the media, and practically every institution in the country. Its a formidable and entrenched block for sure.
At the risk of oversimplifying things, the Left’s main advantage is their strong desire to win and fight for what they want. Unfortunately for us the Republicans just don’t seem to have that same focus, drive or willingness to win. In life those with the greatest will to win usually do.
Everybody in DC knows Pubbies are soft and reflexively afraid of bad PR. They need to steel up and go medieval against the Left; its the only thing the Left understands. That’s why the Dems fear and hate Trump so much — he fights and plays to win. Republicans need to follow his example.
Excellent post. You are spot on with every point.
The Left is always patient and determined and persistent. As you say, not our side.
