Keep your personal cats in house. In my neighborhood, last year there were at least six feral cats I caught on my trail camera. One female in particular, had three litters in the span of two years until she disappeared last year. I have no idea what happened to her kittens. Hopefully a coyote got them rather than being run over in the road which one of them was in front of my house.
Any cat owner willing to allow their feline friend free access to the outdoors should be willing to accept their deaths by poisoning, shooting, trapping or getting run over by a car.
I always joke that my cat is the ultimate “Domestic Goddess”, there is no way she would ever set foot outside even if you left every door and window open.
All of my cats have been indoor cats. As for relatives in the country, they rely on barn cats to keep varmints under control.
