I got on Truth Social just to support President Trump, but I must say is weird and random - not my cup of tea.

Full disclosure, I was never on Twitter, so I don’t have any point of reference.

Here’s what I’ve experienced, in a nut shell…

I log in.
I click on Donald Trump, who is the only person I’m following.
I look at his recent truths or re-truths.
If he’s saying something I like, which is almost always, I’ll hit the heart icon.

Here’s where my Truth experience it starts to go down hill:

I read a few comments - and although there are some positive ones, there are also a lot of negative - even vile comments. Trolls, I assume.

Then there starts to be these back and forth flame wars.

And here’s the thing. Unlike FR, where a lot of the names are familiar - these people seem so random. I quickly get bored or turned off..

I don’t think I’ve lasted more than a few minutes on Truth social before moving on to something else.

Perhaps it is the same on Twitter and I just set my expectations too high for Truth Social. It just doesn’t feel like a community.

What does everyone else think?

We need to set up some kind of subgroup like hashtag #Freepers

but it does not look like it’s supported... yet.

You really need to follow a lot of people to get true benefit out of Truth (or other social media for that matter). Otherwise you are going to have not much of a news feed.

Of course the more you follow, the more out of control your news feed can get. I follow about 2,000 accounts and it's impossible to keep up with all the information streaming by. But because most people post and re-post the same information, you are not likely to miss anything important.

Over when I was on Twitter, I had nearly 6,000 accounts I was following. The way I got around the noise was to build filters. For example, I would dump all the meterologists that I followed into a list and call it "Weather". Then when I clicked on that filter, all I saw in my feed was weather-related information. I then did the same for other categories such as music, politics, news, etc.

I'm anticipating Truth will bring that functionality into their platform as that is the best way to build curated news feeds.

Because of all the Ukrainiacs, I don’t spend as much time here. I don’t know about Truth Social. Maybe, maybe not. I’ll wait.

I did join Free Atlantis on Mastodon. They are very good at welcoming new people, but then you are on your own. But there are some very good discussions and memes. The coolest thing is people unspokenly agree not to argue. So people just leave if a disagreement occurs. I haven’t seen a hint of name calling.

There’s a federated feed that pops all new posts up without need for refreshing. It just rolls. I already enjoy it better than Gettr or Clouthub, and I get more interaction than on Gab.

They also have mute and block buttons. I think Duane Cates put it together.
