Yeah, I get it, but... I didn't get the impression that one side or the other was held out as 'the bad guy'. Sure, you bet, the Second Civil War can certainly erupt.
“Just as soon as I finish watching the Firefly series for the zillionth time...”
Just reading your reference to that series makes me seethe over its cancellation. It actually makes this hard for me to watch.
Picard said “Engage” in addition to “Make it so.” You’re probably thinking of “Energize...” when Kirk and company beamed away somewhere.
Shatner had that odd cadence when speaking his lines that comics have lampooned for decades. Other catchphrases and tropes (that have at least caught on if only said rarely) from the original series:
Kirk:
“Scotty, I need more power.”
“Scotty, beam us up” or “Scotty, [x] to beam up.”
“Standard orbit, Mr. Sulu” and “Take us out of orbit, Mr. Sulu.”
“Open a channel...”
Spock:
“Fascinating.”
“Life, Captain. But not as we know it.”
“Pure energy...”
“Logic suggests...”
“Really, doctor...”
Scotty:
“She’s givin’ us everything she’s got, Cap’n.”
“I can’t change the laws of Phyics, Cap’n.”
McCoy:
“He’s dead, Jim.”
“I’m a doctor, not a...”
“You green-blooded...”
Uhura:
“Channel/hailing frequency open.”
Checkov:
“Ah, yes!. A Russian...!”
“Noo-klee-uhr wessels!” (From Search for Spock)
a previous compilation for ordering warp speed to begin:

And now with Prodigy, the kiddie cartoon ST show, the little boy hoodlum acting as captain, “Capt. Dal,” said “Go fast!”
I didn’t get that impression. Maybe people are just hyper sensitive about Wokeism. There were more chicks than TOS, but who cares about that. There were no flaunting fags running around, except one chick who had a lesbo haircut. I just didn’t get that super-woke impression I got from Discovery.
Heck, even TOS had some woke in it.
Binge watched TOS and was surprised how well it holds up. Acting is solid from leads and supporting cast. Tried to binge TMG but couldn’t. Plots not as interesting and only Stewart was good. Levar is a good actor but they hobbled him with that stupid viser. Spinner can act but they hobbled him by making him talk like a computer. Too many woke episodes.
I prefer "Hit it", being as it is MY catchphrase. :)
I concede that it doesn’t peg the “flock this snit” meter like Stacy Abrams being cast as president of the Earth.
it looks like it will be a watchable series.
oh, and God Almighty himself must really, REALLY hate Christopher Pike. That guy gets an existential hose job in two different timelines. it’s as though God rebooted the universe just to mess with that one guy.
Those were awesome.
Continues is the best of the crowd-funded. Had the best stories.
Aye, the movie of Lord of the Rings was good, the wokeorama that amazon tried to make out of it was doomed to failure
Kirk said “Spock, urinalysis.”
Saving to check YT link later. Thanks for the review, Laz!
it’s a bit woke. The entire bridge crew is female. Vulcans have sex whenever they want, not every 7 years. The bad haircuts on the women on the bridge make them look lesbian.
No prob. Season 3 of the Oroville is about to come out in June, I believe. The first few episodes of season 1 had a little bit of slapstick, but it didn’t take long to get in its groove. There are some more “wokish” ideas, however, I think they did a good job covering them.
Ot sure you and CPT Pike are talking about the same thing
I’ll just say, this is a terrific start for a new ST series. It puts the ultra-woke boring whisperer-actors Discovery to shame just from the writing. Gag, there has never been such a poor ST series as Discovery. Picard started off interesting, but then became plodding and boring this second season, even with young Wesley Crusher returning as a Traveler/Watcher Chief.
Anyway, I love the characters being fleshed out in SNW—sassy Nurse Chapel, clever young Uhura, the legendary (but little known about) “Number One,” the earnest young Spock (and remember, he’s about 75 or so when he works for Capt. Kirk), and the new security Chief, La’an, who was a wonderful actress in The Expeanse (Beltalowada!). We’ll see if the new Chief Engineer is worthy of the alien-ness they’ve painted him with (Aenar). And it’s humorous taking the old middle aged white boy brown jump-suited Teleporter Chief Kyle and making him a young funny asian! And the Gorn are mentioned, and we all know that was such a cheesy TOS ep with Capt. Kirk fighting the lizard/dinosaur Gorn, so maybe they can improve on that, too!
The acting and writing are wonderful, so far, for ST:SNW. I hope it continues.
