Second passports? The phrase makes no sense.

I’m guessing the second passports are for some country besides the USA. My wife, for example, is from the Philippines, so she might want a Philippine passport if she becomes dissatisfied with just an American one.

Actually, nice to have when overseas. If you passport gets held by a foreign government, you can still get out. Laws in other countries do not work like ours, you have to prove your innocence.

It’s quite common for people with adequate financial resources to have a 2nd or even 3rd passport

Give you some flexibility in travel and residence should that become a favorable
Option. Almost did it for me and my family a couple times

I have a Swiss friend who maintains 2 of them - certain countries don’t like it if you’ve traveled to other countries, so 2 passports.
