The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Come join the FUN.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit. (My tagline)
This CG reminded me of something…….
On one of our family backpacking trips we awoke to a torrential rain. Making our way back down the mountain, the water rushing along the trail was up to our 4 year old son’s knees. I even had a rope tied around his waist connected to mine so that he could not be swept over the cliff that met the edge of the trail in some places. At one point, the little guy looked up at his Dad and said, “See what you got us into, Dad!” Five hours later and back in the warm car headed home, we could all laugh about our adventure, and even to this day the kids will jokingly quote Matthew’s rebuke as we all fondly remember the tough times as some of the best.
The author wrote The ILIAD and the Odyssey.
It feels like there’s a missing word between HRD and ZREI. Maybe WR?
Love the quote. Yes, your tagline may be very appropriate, if I live long enough to look back.
Good story! These are the stories that hold families together.
Odd-at-sea?
Well…….. Back in the early 2000’s FReeper MinuteGal arranged several Caribbean cruises, called “FREEPS AHOY!“, as FR fundraisers. On one of them during a day at sea with no port stop, the ship had a contest out on the Lido deck by the pool. In great FReeper style we formed a group to enter. Each group had to build a “boat” out of what ever materials we could scrounge up at the previous day’s port stop. With a member of the group on board, the boats were launched in the pool and a water battle ensued, last boat still afloat was the winner. We had a couple of FReeper engineers in charge and our crazy ODD-AT-SEA semi-waterproof cardboard creation (proudly flying a USA flag of course) won 1st prize.
No. But enclosing ZREI JSWXL in commas may make it make more sense to you.
Good one today. Almost solves itself.....
I have always loved that song. My parents were big Perry Como fans, and I think that’s where I heard it. Thanks for a fun memory lane!
When I joined FR and picked a screen name I first thought of “Apple” because I sort of picked the tag line first. But then that song popped into my head and I knew “Apple Pan Dowdy” fit me better. More about that in my FR Profile… LOL
Hey higgmeister, I just looked at your tagline. You must be in Marietta. Everyone there gives directions by saying, “From the Big Chicken you go __________.”
You have a cool handle. Mine is just derivative.
OK, that worked and I got it, also the Simpsons reference helped too.
Wrong NRBXL.
