I agree with you. The problem, as I see it though, is that this November either gives Trump enough to control Congress, or he might as well not run in 2024.
It sucks that he’s already endorsing people like Oz and my state’s Senator who already seems a bigger supporter of Biden, than him.
The reaction from the GOP-e is to attempt to destroy the winning candidate (See Roy Moore) or to attempt to cheat (See Chris McDaniel in 2014).
This has provoked a deep cynicism of the GOP because it seems the stream only flows one way. We are expected to saddle up and ride to the rescue of their candidate but can expect them to throw rocks at ours in the general.
If Trump shows up to support Barnette in the general even if he did not support her in the primary it would signal that he really is different and is willing to support the right of the people to choose who they will.
This would translate into votes and support in 2024.
