I saw a GREEN meteorite in 1981. The cool part was that its path was almost parallel with the ground. But it was daytime and a very intense, bright green color.

No mention of sonic booms. I thought there would be. To high in the atmosphere I suppose?

It’s the Loc-Nar. This is exactly how the movie Heavy Metal began.

Streaking was a crazy fad from the 70’s. You can’t get away with anything these days. Too many cameras.

Green fireballs in the US southwest became part of UFO lore back in the 50s. Edwin Ruppelt discussed them in his classic book, “The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects.”

Probably nickel-bearing. Nickel produces a green flame and is pretty common in meteorites. Some of the best steels of ancient times were made from from nickel-bearing meteorites. They didn’t know metallurgy from shinola but nickel is one of the more common elements added to pure iron to produce modern steels.

Copper also produces a green flame but it’s usually only present in meteorites in trace amounts.

Thank God. If this happened 1000 years ago, hundreds of Saxon virgins would have been sacrificed to appease the gods.
