True. Shooting yourself in the head is a terrible way to commit suicide. You can miss and end up in a coma. Plus the images left with the people that find you. She would have known better ways.
Of course, when you are mentally ill perhaps you don’t think about all of that.
Maybe they tried to keep ways from her and she was able to access a gun.

I knew a kid in HS back in 76 that popped himself with a .22 right between the eyes on Easter Sunday. He lingered for 3 days.
She is. What she is also avoiding is people asking why knowing her mother’s long battle with mental illness she did not do more to prevent her mother’s access to firearms? Yes, Naomi could have used other implements or means but lots of those fail or give time for intervention.
I am going to take a big leap and write I would not be surprised if Judd had recently changed prescriptions (if she was on antidepressants)and the medication (old or new) may have lead to an increase of suicidal thoughts. Seems contradictory but it is a common warning for such meds.
Article out of Los Angeles Times. Man named George had obsessive fear of germs and would wash his hands hundreds of times a day, in addition to taking numerous showers. He was also very depressed and told his mother that his life was so wretched that he would rather die.
His mom said, “Look, George, if your life is so wretched, just go and shoot yourself.” So George went to the basement, stuck a .22 rifle in his mouth, and pulled the trigger. The bullet evidently destroyed the part of the brain that was causing the behavior in the 19-year-old man without damaging his intellectual capacity, according to Physician’s Weekly.
The publication referred to the suicide attempt as “successful radical surgery.” The man recovered, finished high school, and is (as of the time I copied the article: mid 1980s) in college.
