Best Buy staffers showed a football-style defense while attempting to a stop a gang of shoplifters from making off with several phones from one of the store's display tables, security footage shows.
In the now viral clip, workers at the electronics retailer can be seen giving their best goal line defense in an attempt to thwart the three would-be robbers, who stormed into the store and ripped the three cellphones from a display and attempted to flee.
However, during the time it took for the robbers to rip the devices from their displays, observant staffers on the floor were quick to jump into action - with a response looked like something out of an NFL playbook.
As the thieves attempt to make way for the doors, the footage shows seven retail workers rushing to block them, shuffling in front of them as they attempt to pass, with what can only be called a football-style defense.
The clip of the coordinated maneuver, posted Monday, went viral overnight, garnering millions of views after being shared by a major NFL meme page and later Barstool Sports.

Could turn such little moments into taser product demonstrations for actual customers too.
They’ll get fired and the thieves will sue and win…
They are only operating on their own sense of justice. Bravo
Unfortunately, their C-suite leaders at HQ will probably disown them
Each of those employees will probably get fired for obstruction of undocumented reparations.
And there is always something common with these robberies. I just can’t quite put my finger on it.
Nooses from store roof trusses instead of tree limbs would be appropriate...
(yes, it's a bad choice of image because it is from "The Oxbow Incident" where the mob was going to hang innocent men)
C-suite leaders would be smart to turn that into a training program and market it.
Stores need buttons staff can trigger than causes alarms to go off and all doors sealed shut.
Exactly this. The wombats at the source commenting on how dumb it is “defend a Big Box Store’s stuff that is probably inoperable” don’t get it.
All decent, hard working people are fed up with this $#!7 happening everywhere in the Crime Regime(tm) brought to us by . . . well, at least there’s no more mean Trump tweets.
The employees stopped the thieves because they deserved to be stopped.
Good on them.
I don’t know where this store is located, but no jury in SE USA would convict the store defenders. And they’d boycott any store that fired them.
There is no way Best Buy is paying these employees enough to risk injury trying to stop criminals. They can have the damn phones.
It’s cheaper to settle out of court for Best Buy than to fight it and maybe win.
Most large corporations have policies stating to not stop shoplifting.
We can check back later.
I thought items like these were ultimately inoperable if they were stolen from the store.
If I was the store I’d lose that footage. If they have the perps they could make the Hillary-like claim of a ‘technical glich’.
Too late, it’s on the internet.
Would love to hear John Maddening version of the ‘PLAY’
Or is that evolving into a defense of expected social behavior standards.
Corporate also deducts shrink from employees' bonuses.
Better to nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand like in San Francisco.
How many stores can you visit today where medium and high priced goods are NOT locked up? The laundry detergent at Walmart is locked up, for crying out loud! Laundry soap!
