In the 70’s I got into a disco with a friends parking ticket as ID...things were a little different back then
I remember being in N.O. one weekend on pass from my base at Biloxi in 69. I asked a bartender, “How old to I have to be and what kind of ID do I need for a Vodka Collins?”
He looked at me dead pan and said, “One Dollar”
Yes, but back then we could drink at 18, when we could also vote (which I did), and join the military (which I did). I understand the problem with binge social drinking and alcohol abuse, but the age should be reset to 18, else take their vote away and bar them from the military or draft until 21. Either they are adult citizens or not.
NYS licenses were printed on paper, numbers were easily erased or amended. You need only get one from a friend who was your approximate wt and ht. It was never an issue getting into a bar at 16 or 17 when the age was 18. I believe it may have changed in NYS to 21, which is ridiculous. Smart Kids today split an UBER. In Suburbia you really can't "walk" to bars in most cases.

When I got my (hand written) hunting license when I was 17 they screwed up my birthday and made me 3 years older. I thought, “man, I’m in like Flynn”. Turned out even the bouncers were smarter than that and it got me nowhere. Of course looking as guilty as a serial killer while trying to use it might have had something to do with it.
