A great genius. But can he make it work in a Woke world? Very challenging. I mean: Blazing Saddles was basically “woke” but you could not make it today.
I just read his autobio “All About Me!” and enjoyed it very much. It’s written very positively, he doesn’t really moan or complain about people, and you know he could. His older brother served very bravely in the Air Force in WWII. He was shot down and taken as a POW but had the sense to ditch his dog tags which would have revealed he was Jewish. The Germans thought he was Polish and he let them think that and managed to survive the war.
Amazing right? The movie was a funny way to lampoon racism, showing how ridiculous it is and the idiots today would think the movie is racist.
