‘We cannot go back’: People share their stories of abortion and access (BARF)
NBC NEWS ^ | May 7, 2022 | Anna Brand

We asked our readers: How has getting an abortion — or deciding not to — changed your life? Here’s what they said.

Hundreds of thousands of women opt to get an abortion in this country every year. And that’s just what’s been recorded.

There are 600,000 abortions each year, on average, in the U.S, according to the CDC. The Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights group, puts that number even higher, at almost 900,000.

If Roe v. Wade is overturned, nearly two dozen states are likely to ban abortions or severely restrict access to the procedure. Thirteen have "trigger laws" that would ban abortion almost immediately, according to an NBC News analysis of data from the Center for Reproductive Rights. Whether abortion remains legal would be left up to individual states, forcing some people to travel out of state to legally end a pregnancy.

We asked our readers: How has getting an abortion — or deciding not to — changed your life? How has having access to an abortion clinic affected your decision? Here’s what they wrote to us. Some of the submissions have been edited for space and clarity.

Every week at a local prayer walk there are stories of minds changed and joy when children are saved. It is truly a God thing.

Again, you are pretending there is some imaginary “wash” that can prevent pregnancy after a rape. You have a vivid imagination. And I don’t think you are even female.

I agree 100%- I just get frustrated that folks don’t realize not every girl that has an unplanned pregnancy is a hussy.
Some of those same folks would disagree that she should be able to go to an ER and prevent her pregnancy.

more than enough women on this forum think rape does not happen- if you just stayed indoors, nothing like that would happen.
Maybe the OP thinks the ER will give the RAPE victim a medical douche that will rinse away the sperm.
I was thinking of the morning after pill that you can get in an ER if you were raped.

I’ll pass at reading their cherry-picking quotes. These hundreds of thousands of women are afraid of what they’ve done and don’t want to feel the weight of what they did. That should tell them what they did was immoral. A fraction of a fraction are “rape, incest, life of the mother” cases and yet the pro-infanticide and eugenics crowd fear-monger that some young woman will be “punished with a baby” (Obama’s words) so dismemberment and evacuating a baby into a bucket should be available to all 57 genders at all times without even a waiting period.

The Left, the Party of Science (when convenient), never takes ownership of their positions. They don’t like being adult and dealing with the consequences of their actions.

When a president lied under oath about an affair with his intern it was a “private matter” while it should have been a defining moment in feminism where we were being told power disparity defined rape and sexual assault. When a Republican has a consensual affair during a failed marriage during separation he is destroyed personally and politically. When Trump expressed having the authority to deal with Covid but chose to let the states manage their crisis with fed support he was hammered as an out of control authoritarian as well as not doing enough. The “party of science” is trying to force a tyranny of the minority on the majority. Don’t call me “cis” anything. I don’t to zee & their pronouns. If you are other, be other, and leave me out of your neurosis. I say this as a person who dates interracially, has supervised and socialized with “transgender” persons. I have my limits, don’t expect me to disrespect myself to accommodate you.

But the ultimate lie here is the media narrative that the Alito opinion will outlaw abortion. No it won’t. That only happens if there’s the political will in your state to ban it. And if everyone loves abortion as much as the media says they do, then no problem, right?

Sure, until someone realizes that every person has the right to life, and it's the role of the Constitution to safeguard the rights of the people.
