"wildly inconvenient ways to store your valuables

Ha. Most of those methods would result in the money being accidentally thrown in the trash."

I talked to a man who went to visit his country grandfather (who was a neighbor of mine) years ago. He was playing with some pipes in the yard, and his grandpa told him to leave them alone. His grandpa took one, screwed the end cap off and out poured a stack of quarters! And there were a bunch of pipes scattered all over the yard! Well, apparently this guy wasn't on speaking terms with his folks.... and as luck would have it after grandpa died, they came and cleaned up the yard and threw all those pipes away!

My grandfather buried his money under the house in coffee or tobacco cans.

A man I worked with rolled $100 dollar bills and hid them from his wife in the barrel of a 12ga shotgun. He called it his “she” money. That worked good until he grabbed the wrong gun to go bird hunting one day and blew $100 bills to smithereens.

Dumbest thing I ever heard of.

I knew a garbage guy that got a whole booked morgan collection, speculation was someone’s wife tossed all a guys coin books after he died.

A buddy of mine working at a county dump raced one of his coworkers to a box thrown off one of those “we get rid of your junk” trucks that sounded full of jingly stuff and lost to his coworker. It was full of silver dollars.
