The thing that tells me it's true is that the day after this news broke, the Canadian Armed Forces put out word that:
A) Dude 'retired' on April 5th
B) His 'retirement' juuuuust happened to coincide with a sexual assault/misconduct charge
C) He was in the Krain as a 'private citizen' and "we don't know shxx about it."
If that sounds vaguely familiar, think "Mission Impossible": "As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape/disc will self-destruct in five/ten seconds." The very fact that ALL the 'factcheckers' have come out and said "FALSE!!!!"
