Plan B is OTC in every state.......it must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex or contraceptive failure although it is most effective the sooner it is taken.
It contains Levonorgestrel, a progestin (also found in many oral contraceptives)......works by mainly blocking the release of an egg from the ovary and may also work by preventing fertilization of a released egg .
So what happens if someone uses it after the 72 hours? and what if they take too much?
