The “outbreaks” these days are almost all a case of the sniffles.

The cruise lines are caught between a rock and a hard place.

If they say this is “much ado about nothing” they are taking on Big Pharma and its .gov fully owned subsidiaries.

If they don’t take on the powers that be then their bottom line takes a hit as fear porn scares off future customers.

Please refrain from the juvenile replies cuz I am truly just writing this out of a desire to inform and my posting history would prove that I’m against all things vaccine and covid propaganda. But the fact is I know six people that have gotten the latest variant within the last 3 weeks and two of them are young healthy men in their 20s who both had the previous version just a few months ago. Two of the six are older and are still in the hospital. The rest described it as the flu but with a loss of taste and smell. Personally I’m keeping my distance from people but I never wear masks. Just seems like a little common sense to me but feel free to do whatever floats your boat.

Indeed. Who in their right mind.

Never been tempted to spend day after day on a cruise ship. I’ve already lived in the barracks enough. Did a sunset cruise while in Hawaii doing all the tourista stuff. Couple hours was enough.

The human race is so fragile now that even traveling on an ocean liner or cruise ship is considered a death risk. Makes you long for icebergs.

Or maybe it is your traveling companion sharing the same cabin.

What mess to sort out. -Tom

I was on the Ruby Princess docked at Seattle the same day. We got back to SF and 37 were reported testing positive. that did not count myself and my wife as we developed symptoms after arriving at our home. Do they require tests? No, but they offer them.

Sick? yes, but my wife and I are still only in the mild cold level of sick. I have several comorbidities so am worried but my doctor is not too worried unless my O2 level drops below 90%.. Right now it is hovering in the low 90s and I have Oxygen at home for other reasons so can tap into this resourse if necessary.

The ships require negative test (rapid antigin is OK) within 2 days of boarding. Our short cruise produced 37 out of about 5000 and a longer cruise would be expected to produce more. Since our cruise was cold weather-wise we did not do much but eat and drink. Maybe if we had better weather we would have had more flu?

Cruise did everything expected, lots of cleaning, only a little mask wearing — especially in elevators. Ship claims people get the virus when they go ashore. We of course went ashore with the passengers of that other ship.

How sick were the “positive” passengers? My guess, not very.

My 98 y/o mother tested positive for Covid 2 weeks ago. Not so much as a sniffle. Unvaccinated. Covid, for the most part, has lost its punch.

The ships doctor is likely blaming fecal-oral illnesses such as Giardia or E. Coli on COVID-1984.

“Never been tempted to spend day after day on a cruise ship.”

Most days are spent in port. Ship sails during the night.

I am glad to hear that.

Myself I AM 86, and unvaccinated. Still we have to worry about "long term covid" if we get mild symptoms.-Tom
