Burchett (and others) have implied that the Pentagon is resistant to revealing the truth about this matter for 2 reasons.

First, the Pentagon does not have any ideas as to how to deal with this problem (whatever it is) and...

Second, this problem takes the Pentagon's concern away from the current responsibilities re: defending us against other countries and refocuses their attention on a paradigm-changing challenge that may reduce their power.

Third, they do not want to reveal the existence of black box projects that may be in violation of treaties, or provide significant advantages.
