One time I booked myself a window seat on a plane. As I boarded and got to my assigned seat, some other guy was already sitting there in my window seat along with his girlfriend who was sitting in the middle seat. I checked my ticket to make sure I had the right aisle and the right seat. I did.
I don’t recall my exact words, but i said something along the lines to the guy,”um, excuse me? 24A? That’s my seat.”
The guy didn’t give me the courtesy of turning his head to look at me while I was talking to him. Instead, he just looked ahead and said, “no, no. 24A is the aisle seat.”
I looked at the little metal diagram above the seats that indicated the guy was wrong. I was about to look for a flight attendant to set this guy straight when his girlfriend got up out of her seat to look at the metal diagram I saw and she said, “he’s right. That’s his seat.”
The guy, without a word and again without looking at me got up out of my seat and I got in and he settled in to his aisle seat. No apology either. Not a word to me. As I sat there in my seat, I thought “next time get yourself a better travel agent, a#ole”
I have a fun airline story. This happened years ago before there was instant flight cancelations and re-booking. I and family members were flying overseas from LA. Our connecting flight from Denver was delayed. When we got to LA, we made a run for it and were seated in business class. A few minutes later another party showed up with the same seating arrangements on their boarding passes. Since we were seated we took the position that possession is 90% of the law. Slight mistake, the other party was upgraded to first class. Business class was still awesome.
