The Kentucky senator Rand Paul promised on Saturday to wage a vigorous review into the origins of the coronavirus if Republicans retake the Senate and he lands a committee chairmanship.
Speaking to supporters at a campaign rally, the senator denounced what he sees as government overreach in response to Covid-19. He applauded a recent judge’s order that voided the federal mask mandate on planes and trains and in travel hubs.
“Last week I was on an airplane for the first time in two years and didn’t have to wear a mask,” he said, drawing cheers. “And you know what I saw in the airport? I saw at least 97% of the other free individuals not wearing masks.”
Paul has clashed repeatedly with Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious disease expert, over government policies and the origins of the virus.
Paul, who is seeking a third term, said he was in line to assume a committee chairmanship if the GOP wins Senate control. The Senate has a 50-50 split, with the vice-president, Kamala Harris, the tie-breaking vote.
“When we take over in November, I will be chairman of a committee and I will have subpoena power,” Paul said. “And we will get to the bottom of where this virus came from.”
The senator, an ophthalmologist before politics, continued to offer his theory about the origins of the virus.
“If you look at the evidence, overwhelmingly, not 100%, but overwhelmingly the evidence points to this virus being a leak from a lab,” Paul said.
Many US conservatives have accused Chinese scientists of developing Covid-19 in a lab and allowing it to leak.
US intelligence agencies remain divided on the origins of the coronavirus but believe China did not know about the virus before the start of the global pandemic

If they actually do start to “find out” what everyone who is an honest observer can already know don’t be surprised if there’s a few accidents or heart attacks among those looking for info.
The Democrats murdered Seth Rich for much less.
“We do not feel justified in giving up what has come to the industry like a gift from heaven on the possibility that a hazard may be involved in it.” – CEO of Pfizer
No, I kid, it was Frank Howard, CEO of Standard Oil about leaded gas.
The drinking water and the vaccine.

"Democrats had a very good covid"
Chinese scientists? We better take a look closer to home before we decide (funny how the media is trying to decide for us).
I’ll save you some time.
It came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology based on research shipped to Red China by Dr. Fauci from the US when it was banned here.
Don’t call it the China Virus!
I just can’t believe the Senate will do anything effective with Mitch in charge.
Mitch will not let this get far.
The democrats will roll out their famous “Vince Foster” and “Ron Brown” tactics. Tsk tsk, the gun went off by itself twice and shot them dead on the first shot.
Trump had China on its heels and Xi used every weapon at his disposal even though it had to cost Chinese lives. There are casualties in all wars.
There really ought to be a global liability case over Covid. It was certainly an engineered virus that leaked. The question is who is at fault, and can every country on earth recover massive losses?
The other interesting question is whether the US shares some of that liability by funding some operations in the Wuhan lab. That would also open the US to liability claims.
“If you look at the evidence, overwhelmingly, not 100%, but overwhelmingly the evidence points to this virus being a leak from a lab,” Paul said.”
99.9% of HONEST scientists knew from the beginning the virus came out of a lab, the gp120 HIV inserts, the patented Moderna sequence found at the furin cleavage site (not to mention the furin cleavage site itself) all pointed to a lab origin.
I was going to say that this shows Rand Paul does not have an FR account.
Yeah...
Sure...
First, the Senate GOP will try to determine where sunshine originates...
the trail leads to the wuhan lab and from there to ft detrick
i doubt they’ll ever admit it came from wuhan... therefore protecting ft detrick
and the US
Rand Paul seems to be referring to something that, back in the day, was referred to as “the truth”.
At this late date, is it possible to consider this sentiment to be anything but “quaint”?
The TWA Flight 800 crash in 1996 served as a pretty good test run as to what the deep state can get the U.S. electorate to swallow on short order prior to a POTUS election. Since then the practice of hiding the awful truth, and forcing the public to believe convenient lies, has become big business: international, multifaceted, sophisticated, and, of course, comprehensive. Rand Paul will face huge pushback if he thinks he’s going to force the globalist/NGO/BioLab complex to release its hard-won grip on our collective throats.
That said, there IS the case of Twitter and its new private owner. Also, pressure IS building on the Vatican to admit that Benedict XVI’s 2013 attempted papal resignation was a sophomoric failure.
The truth might just make a comeback in 2022.
Actually, I suspect Senator Paul knows this already and is just peddling bullsh*t for the Paul-tard rubes, of which there are, unfortunately, too many.
Go Rand!
China needs to be confronted on this. We’re making the same mistake with Xi that we did with Putin — we let them both get away with murder outside of their own borders. With essentially no consequences, they’ll go on to do more and more.
Give them an inch, and they’ll take a second inch, then a third inch, and so on. They’ll see how far they can go. And a little time passes and they’ve gone a mile.
They rely on the fact that Western leaders are too afraid to challenge them.
China unleashed COVID on the world. We need to find out the true story and respond appropriately. Was it a lab leak to which they applied the “let no crisis go to waste” principle? Or was the virus released intentionally? And what are China’s tactical goals in this whole thing?
Everybody knew that Putin was behind the polonium and Novichok murders in the UK. The Western response wasn’t much more than a strongly worded letter. Is it any surprise that he upped what he was willing to do abroad?
And it’s not just the murders in the UK. There was the downing of MH17 (and I bet our government also knows what happened to MH370, or at least has strong suspicions). There’s Georgia and Crimea.
It’s easy to see where appeasement got us with Russia. Let’s not make the same mistake with China.
