That was complete bull in my day and it’s complete bull today. If you don’t stand up for the truth and what’s right you’re gutless or stupid.
I didn’t know one person back in HS who didn’t laugh at the idea of peer pressure. Not one. We were constantly hearing about it ( mostly from teachers and counselors natch) but the idea that teachers and counselors could somehow apply an even greater pressure is absolutely confounding. Young people cannot have changed that much. Hell one of the SHORTCOMINGS of youth has traditionally been that they regard the stuff that comes out of the mouths of the “old” as wrong or out of date.
Maybe your 14 yr old is keeping her mouth shut (admittedly the people she’s faced off with are a kind of crazy I’ve never seen before in America) but she must see these crazies as damning themselves. Let’s see where she is in a few years…
