Deaths in these age groups are up 40% if I remember correctly.

So even if these fact neglecters are still right 40% of the time, that's still a big deal.

Yes. And in this case it is necessary to know cause of death to even begin to speculate.

United States reported 3,459,886 deaths of all ages for the year 2021. Expected deaths were 2,971,452. That is an increase of 488,434 deaths (+16.4%).

To date, for the year 2022, United States reported 925,167 deaths of all ages. Expected deaths thus far, were 797,732. That is an increase of 127,435 deaths (+16.0%).
