Family Dollar worker, 21, is charged with murder after emptying entire clip (magazine) into the back of a 49-year-old shoplifter who stole motor oil

A shocking clip shows the moment a Houston Family Dollar employee killed a shoplifter, firing six shots into his back as he fled the store with motor oil.

Antonio Batres, 21, faces a murder charge after he emptied the clip of his Glock 9mm pistol into 49-year-old Troy Odom around 4.30 pm on April 17 as shoppers looked on.

In video taken by a shopper, two store employees are seen confronting Odom - one of the men can be heard shouting unintelligibly. Bottles of motor oil are strewn across the ground.

'He had that all in his pants,' says the woman filming the video. 'He had a lot of fuel.'

'He need to chill out,' the woman says as the shoplifter leaves the store, the two employees following him. It is unclear if he had motor oil or any other merchandise with him.

Batres can be seen aiming, taking a wide stance and firing. Odom collapses out of view, and can be heard shrieking as six shots ring out.

'Further investigation determined the victim had his back toward Batres, who then pulled out a pistol and shot the victim several times,' reads a press release from the Houston Police Department.

Police could not tell DailyMail.com whether the weapon was owned legally.

Odom was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The All People's Funeral Home in Houston confirmed that his funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday.

His brother, Darrell Odom, told DailyMail.com that his brother 'had his struggles in life, but was a good man.'

Antonio Batres - recent immigrant?

Store keepers shoot customers all the time in Latin America.

There used to be a Hispanic website that put up new videos every week with gun battles in stores.

The most amazing death I have ever seen was on that website.

A customer whips out a gun and points it at one clerk.

Another clerk pulls out a concealed gun and shoots the perp dead center in the upper abdomen.

It must have been a perfect shot into the aorta.

The perp literally bled out before he hit the floor.

As for Antonio Batres...

If the victim was Black, Antonio will be doing some serious prison time.

I suspect the store employee shot the shoplifter because the shoplifter somehow “disrespected” him in the process of walking out, rather than over some overwhelming sense of duty to his employer.

Let’s see here! Should I spend $10 on a quart of oil, or should I eat lunch?

Nothing to see here, says the left.

Then thought “well I’m going to prison for sure now might as well empty it”

Besides murder, after the third round is discharged, an additional charge of illegal dumping is filed.

On the negative side, this seems a little extreme but I wasn't there.
On the positive side, it sends a positive message not to shoplift and he did remember to double tap.

It looks bad.

Texas law is liberal about protecting property.

But, if the person did not have any stolen property on them, and they were leaving...

No, not a good shooting. You can’t shoot somebody walking away in the back because they almost stole something from the Dollar Store. The worker was a hood and the guy probably disrespected him in some way, so he unloaded.

That area is going hard Hispanic ever since Pasadena took a mere 15 years to flip from black to Latino/illegal and overnight they filled up the old black neighborhoods all the way out to Ellington Field.

These migras are fast migrating westward along the 610 and will have the 3rd and South Ward jungles cut off from their cuz in Sunnyside and South Acres in just another 2-3 years.

Let me see the jury pool before anyone on FR convicts this guy.

Six shots. Unloaded “clip”. Glock Semi-Auto. Something isn’t adding up here.

I disagree, just don’t steal. It is illegal to shoot a thief who is not a threat but it is not immoral. I think that should change.
