Video apparently taken moments before cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot dead by Alec Baldwin on the set of “Rust” was revealed Monday.
The clip, contained in a trove of documents released by the Santa Fe, New Mexico Sheriff’s Office, was taken by Hutchins on the day of the shooting in a mock church at the Bonanza Creek Ranch. It shows Baldwin, 64, rehearsing a “cross draw” on the set of the doomed Western movie.

Oh man, that’s a grim image.
AND he cocked it on the 2nd draw.

Well the video proves that’s a lie.
“Authorities said they still do not have important pieces of evidence, such as ballistics reports, necessary to complete the investigation. “
the actor says he’d gone to lunch on the day of the accident before stepping into rehearsal for a new shot. He and the crew assumed, “as we’ve done every time, that it’s a cold gun for rehearsal.”

On a happier note, in a goodwill gesture Will Smith has arranged for Chris Rock to have a cameo appearance as a gunfighter opposite Alec Balwin’s character. That undoes a lot of negative publicity between the two.
Never assume. Somebody could have gone target shooting during lunch.
“I take the gun out... I turn and cock the gun, the gun goes off,” Baldwin tells the officers. “It’s supposed to be a cold gun—nothing. No flash, charges, nothing.”
Hmm.. there seems to be something missing. He cocks the gun, and it... what? Became uncocked?
Why isn’t this guy been charged? I can’t see any mitigating circumstance that avoids manslaughter.
Makes you wonder if they have footage of the actual discharge.
His initial statement is contrary.
““I pull out the gun…I turn around and cock the gun, the gun goes off,” Baldwin told officers.”

Plus it sounds like they didn’t do any drug or alcohol tests either.
AND I think they let him go to his trailer and change clothes before driving himself to the sheriff’s office.
Did they get video from the lunch to see if he had any alcohol with his lunch?
So far he’s getting away with it.

I see a lot of that on TV police dramas. A TV cop (actor) rushes into a building, and he’s got a finger on his gun’s trigger. That surprises me. I thought those shows had police consultants.
Well, maybe they don’t. Or maybe the consultants aren’t paying attention.
