The culture war over Disney reached new heights Thursday, as Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Florida Gov. Ron De Santis traded barbs over the company's future in the Sunshine State.
Earlier this week, Polis voiced disagreement over DeSantis' support for legislation that would strip Disney of its special status as a self-governing area, which was ultimately passed Thursday by the Florida House.
Polis then accused DeSantis of using socialist tactics to control the private sector, and invited Disney to ditch the Sunshine State and move to Colorado.
'Florida's authoritarian socialist attacks on the private sector are driving businesses away,' Polis tweeted, along with a video of DeSantis threatening to 'hold the Twitter board of directors accountable' for blocking an acquisition by Elon Musk.
'In CO, we don't meddle in affairs of companies like @Disney or @Twitter,' Polis tweeted on Tuesday. 'Hey @Disney we're ready for Mountain Disneyland and @Twitter we're ready for Twitter HQ2, whoever your owners are.'
'We will grant Mickey and Minnie full asylum in Colorado,' the Democrat later wrote.
Polis doubled down on his remarks on Thursday, after the Florida House voted 68-38 to end the Reedy Creek Improvement District, meaning Disney will no longer be able to operate as a self-contained government.
'...when government starts threatening private companies with retribution based on their free speech, that takes us down the road towards authoritarianism,' Polis told Fox News Digital in a phone interview.
Meanwhile, DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw decried Polis' accusations of authoritarian attacks, saying that DeSantis has a deeper understanding of the ideology and its consequences as many Floridians have fled regimens of the sort.
Pushaw invited Polis to 'educate' himself on what socialism is, hinting that he had used the term lightly to 'weaponize baseless allegations.'

“Socialist attacks” apparently means “removing solialist policies that have paid Capitalists with public money for 50 years”.
I am opposed to government taking punitive actions against anyone for free speech. That being said, the deal that Disney has had in Florida should have been looked at years ago and stop favoring one business over another.

It’s tricky here. Disney’s free speech = pedophilia. The tax law could be a work-around to thwart the pervs as much as possible.

It’s not just Disney; other business are impacted, too, depending on the date in the ‘60 when they got the deals. The MSM is screaming, “Disney! Disney!” and people get caught up in thinking it’s ONLY Disney. They shouldn’t fall for the MSM’s lies (by omission).

Spot on. Denver has Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park near downtown. It is seasonal, open only April thru October. Does the idiot Governor of Colorado Really think Disney is into seasonal openings?
Skiing and military is the only thing keeping that state afloat...with some seasonal agriculture. Almost forgot! There is a marijuana economy there now, which would fit right in with the Disney experience now.

Besides the keywords 'fl' and 'florida', I compiled an informal Florida FReepers list on my own accord, and it's sure getting a lot of use lately. Our beautiful state and it's exemplary governor have been national news for a while now. Leading the way!
