Why would we squirrel away weapons of obsolete technology?
I'm not a munitions expert and don't know much about missiles. Raytheon seemed to imply that it was important we can't have them anymore. Hence, my comment. Please forgive me.
Stingers aren’t obsolete. Best MANPAD in the world.
Raytheon still makes them. Wont be makin them until 2023...lack of resources.

For the same reason you’d squirrel away anything that wouldn’t be missed since it was out of date or obsolete. It’s not that they’re “don’t work” obsolete, they’re “lower probability” obsolete...
We still have rifles and pistols from WW I in storage. If they are serviceable they have a way of coming in handy.
