A man was killed inside a Southern California(Escondido) car wash after he got out of his vehicle and got pinned against machinery, authorities said Monday.
The fatal accident unfolded late Friday at a self-service car wash in the 2100 block of East Valley Parkway in Escondido, which is about 35 miles north of downtown San Diego and 110 miles south of central Los Angeles, police said.
That's where the unidentified man, 56, became "trapped between a 2014 Scion XB and a part of the car wash machinery," according to a police statement.
"The preliminary investigation indicated that the man drove into the car wash and for an unknown reason, tried to exit his vehicle," the statement continued.
The car lurched forward and left, pinning the man to a column that houses one of the large rolling brushes when it's not in use, Lt. Scott Walters told NBC News.
The accident caused an alarm to sound, drawing the attention of another nearby customer, who called police, he said.
Officers managed to pull the man out and he was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to officials.
A representative for the car wash could not be reached for comment, but police said “it does not appear the car wash had been activated at the time of the co
“It does not appear that one other person here read the story.”
Of course not. We are traditionalists.
That guy did lose the door...BUT he also saved the wiper so I guess it’s an even-up kind of thing.
LUCILLE!
My mom was disgusted with that scene and called it gross. As a teen I didn’t mind, not at all.
As NOT a teen anymore, I still don’t mind this scene. Of course today, that same actress would be wiping the wheels and not the windows.
Ever have this problem?
That is one expensive wiper blade.
I bet the production meetings for those episodes like that are hilarious.
Wasps are the one part of Country Living I just HATE! Our old farm house has lots of eves and overhangs for them to nest in. It’s never ending! Last summer both I and my cat got stung while minding our own business in our own home! Last month I killed the first of them, again - in my kitchen! You’ve got the whole WORLD to roam and you need to be INSIDE MY HOUSE? NOPE!
I got stung on the ankle bone last summer. I felt as if I was hit with a cattle prod. There was a huge HOLE in my ankle and it itched for months, no matter what salve I put on it. I mean a, ‘wake up from a dead sleep itching my ankle’ kind of itch.
Second only to when I was pruning a Yew hedge and must have hit a nest. Was wearing a loose, sleeveless summer blouse and three of them ended up inside my bra. Glad I didn’t have neighbors because I was topless by the time I made it into the house, LOL!
I tried that method for washing my car windows. Didn’t work for some reason.
Walt and Skylar thank you.
.
car? what car?
If that is from cool hand luke. Sexiest car wash ever.
Yep, the infamous “Lucille” scene.
How fast were the divorce papers?
LOL....poor guy wasn’t expecting to lose his door, that day, I’m sure.
