Elon Musk ‘Very Vulnerable to Blackmail of Chinese Communist Party,’ Ex-Trump Adviser Peter Navarro Claims

Former Trump White House trade adviser Peter Navarro has claimed that Elon Musk is “very vulnerable to the blackmail of the Chinese Communist Party.”

While some feel that tech mogul Musk’s recent move to buy Twitter outright is a sign that the restoration of free speech could return to the platform, to others, Musk is a threat to the Left’s control of the Internet.

Speaking at a TED event in Vancouver, Canada, on Thursday, Musk said that the reason he’s attempting to buy Twitter is not to make money but to reduce the “civilizational risk” censorship poses to democracy and freedom and to remove restrictions to free speech.

“I don’t trust Elon Musk,” Navarro told The Epoch Times.

“I don’t trust him because he made a deal with the communist Chinese devil to produce his Tesla cars there.

I trust Musk far more than present management.

Navarro is very anti-China, but other than that he seems inline with the RINO establishment types who worry about Musk getting in there and allowing free speech and criticism of the establishment. (whether it be against the left or the right)

more to the point, why does trump surround himself with RINO backstabbers and loose cannons?

Because his malignant narcissism inevitably renders him not only incapable of judging the character of others but ultimately disinterested in doing so? You think maybe that's it?

Not saying Musk is vulnerable, but the ChiComs can get to nearly any pagan that wants money.

In other words, pretty much every elected official in the U.S. government.

I understand the point, but not trusting him because he produces cars in China does not support the headline that they have blackmail dirt on him.

The headline writer probably confused the terms "blackmail" and "extortion". It happens a lot.

So, Peter, are we better off just to keep Twitter the way they are?

For the same reason Trump ran for office - because he actually CARES about this country.

Lame. Not blackmail; he smoked dope on broadcast, and fathered 7 kids by several women - no other sign of embarrassing depravity. Maybe extortion, but he’s rich & principled enough to say “f you” and pull business out. Pressed some limits, so maybe awkwardness there.

Why the visceral hate for Musk?

The Chinese already have their tentacles in both parties.

Indeed. Notice the absence of criticism of the CCP which is still buying oil from Russia. It shows the whole sanctions thing is a virtue signaling charade.

Are you sure you are at the right site?
They'd give you an “A” for posting deranged, far left nonsense at DU.
So why don't you just go back there and spew your anti Trump nonsense?
Not to mention Navarro has never been a never Trumper. He is one of the strongest Trump supporters there is.

I guess the CCP could try to blackmail Musk but when the communist state of California tried it he picked up his business and moved it to Texas.

This is asinine.

Because Trump is himself an unpredictable loose cannon, for whom "normal" people don't want to work.

Navarro: "“I don’t trust him because he made a deal with the communist Chinese devil to produce his Tesla cars there."

You: This is asinine.

Perhaps if you believe a Communist country is capable of being an ethical, reliable business partner who will continue to share your expectations while you let them hold the assets of the partnership.

Apart from appearing to be a not very smart proposition, it seems likely Navarro was also thinking along the lines of Musk opening himself to coercion and being compromised.

If you want to do business in China, you are subject to Chinese Law. In other words, you bow to the CCP, which is the Law in China.

No different for Tesla than for any other company, Chinese or non-Chinese, doing business there.
