Creedence Clearwater Revival
Bad Moon Rising

To me, this song is more relevant now, than in 1969.
Looks like a Motley Crew...
One of my oldies favs.
Thanks for posting.
Remember it well. First time I heard it it kinda sounded like “there’s a bathroom on the right”. :)
Saw a youtube video of a Family Guy episode saying that “Fortunate Son” was overplayed in Vietnam-related media. I only remember hearing it in Forrest Gump. Before that, thanks to Apocalypse Now, the go-to “Vietnam song” was the Stones’ “Satisfaction.”
But “Bad Moon Rising” is a great Credence song.
The other “Vietnam song,” also thanks to Apocalypse Now, was “Ride of the Valkyries.”
...CCR’s “Suzie Q” also appears in Apocalypse Now.
Okay, I’m done!
The other “Vietnam song,” also thanks to Apocalypse Now, was “Ride of the Valkyries.”
One of my favorites!
I have always loved Creedence Clearwater’s sound. Great band. “I put a spell on you...”
Love CCR.
John Fogarty is also a great guitarist in his own right.
Not so much of an outspoken lefty as some others, but....
I see the bad moon a-rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin’
I see bad times today
Don’t go around tonight
Well it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
I hear hurricanes a-blowing
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers over flowing
I hear the voice of rage and ruin
Well don’t go around tonight
Well it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise, all right
Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye
Well don’t go around tonight
Well it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
Don’t come around tonight
Well it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
There’s a bathroom on the right.
I was a new guy at SEAL Team 2 in 1980.
Bad Moon Rising made the Vietnam SEALs nostalgic when it came on the radio.
They said it was one of the songs they played in “Nam” while loading magazines and getting weapons and gear ready for going out to mess up somebody’s night.
Ever since, they always associated it with getting ready to go out on a combat patrol in enemy territory.
“... there’s the bathroom on the right”
You are exactly right AKA Travis McGee. Just saw your home page.
CCR was the cat’s meow for those of who served in Nam. Met some of your brothers in Cam Rahn Bay.
Now when I hear it, I remember the old Vietnam SEALs getting psyched up for a patrol.
Ironic, isn't it? The real enemy is all things liberal. Fogerty never imagined that, I'm sure. He might just live long enough to see it, though.
CCR goes into the under-rated band category. Born on the Bayou is my favorite. Great intro, good story telling lyrics, repeated melodic bridges with each getting shorter, just a fun song.
“I Put a Spell on You”. One of the best cover songs of the early Chess artist, Howlin Wolf. Fogerty got what the Wolf was going for, but added a sinister flavor, especially with the base run.
Amazing. The band that dethroned the Beatles and were gone in just a few years
