Most of the baby strollers my family observed on vacation in Savannah, Georgia were not transporting babies. Instead, couples perambulated about the city with . . . dogs. By the end of our vacation, we had counted more than 200 different dogs in strollers across the city. Seeing an actual baby in a stroller proved to be the exception, not the rule. The U.S. birthrate has fallen by about 20 percent since 2007, and shows no signs of recovering.

What future?
Exactly. Combine that with the fact that the high birth rate nations tend to not have an education system that teaches them to hate their culture -- and we have a world becoming more and more like 3rd world culture.
There was a time when the western culture had the highest birth rates (as Mark Steyn also pointed out). But that was when we loved God and each other and weren't ashamed of our first world lifestyles and behaviors.

There are certain parts of the country where this trend among especially white women started in the 1990s. My wife has just a handful of friends from the Seattle area who had more than 1 kid and most of them had none.
My wife and I both came from families with 4 kids. Many of our friends came from families with 6 or more. My brother and his wife had 5 kids. We had just 3. None of my brother’s kids have had any kids while we have 8 grandkids and one of our grandsons is getting married this summer and he and his bride are already looking forward to raising a large family.
But they are exceptions among white kids. While the new commers to our society are reproducing like crazy. For whatever reasons this country will soon be made up of mostly brownish and yellowish people and they will not remember us fondly. All the traditions we were raised to think were important are going to be booted to the side lines. We have only ourselves to blame.
For those who ask why would I want to bring a child into this horrible world? Life has never been a bed of roses and our lot has for the most part been much more comfortable than it was for those who came before us. We owe them something for what they have given us and going extinct is not what they would want.
Any woman who claims her “furbabies” are her children is a liberal loon.

We have 9 Christian Home Schooled successful children. It is our secret plan for world domination prior to Jesus coming back.
The "world today" in the US, is paradise compared to other places and times. Why would anyone want to have a child in Zimbabwe? Or a rural village in China or India? But people do.
I have multiple kids and multiple grandkids. I believe they will improve the world. They are my contribution to the future.
To be honest we have always had wienerdogs since we were married, and we just lost the one that we had become the most attached to a few months ago. And it still hurts. Not quite as much as if it had been one of our kids but very close.
She was an amazing little dog. Most of the people we thought were coming to visit us were actually coming to visit her. Now we see almost no one. She would put on this display jumping around and acting like the person at the door was the most important person in the world. We didn’t tell them that she did this for most people. Of course, there were some she was not fond of... but what an expressive little comedian she was.
There may not BE anything that can be done about it.
At certain speeds, attitudes and altitudes, that 737 is going to crash. We have two full decades of kids fully indoctrinated in socialism, feminism, homosexuality, and pure disdain if not outright hate for America. They have an iron grip on the Universities, schools, our economy, the military, all levels of low enforcement and the legal system.
There is no solution. The only thing left to be done is to look after yourself and your own, and where possible, band together with like minded people. The future is South Africa and enclaves where you can live out your life in relative peace. Nobody is coming to save us.

This also reminds me of the dystopian novel “Brave New World”.
It’s the fundamental problem in Western Civilization right now. Women have been brainwashed to be selfish and not want children or to only have one or 2. This is the plan created by the communists and it has worked. Using environmentalism to scare women into not “overpopulating”. Overpopulation was the huge enviro-commie scare several decades ago in their attempt to prevent whites from reproducing. And it worked. Never a word spoken against third worlders reproducing like rabits. In fact, whites were encouraged to adopt third worlders instead of having their own children.
The Giver was pretty good too. Women had 2 kids and were then put out to pasture.

You’re not entirely wrong. But there are some moms who tried and were facing a tidal wave of determined opposition from every direction for the minds of their kids. Pop culture, TV and movies, music, teachers, universities, the government, and even the church.
Ah, if only this were the only reason. I think it has as much to do with the “me generation”, i.e. they are shallow and demand instant gratification and anything that gets in the way of that gratification (i.e. the demands of a baby) is not acceptable. Your reason, while it may be a big part, gives too much intellectual credit and character to those people.
I’ve seen a lot of the “furbaby” nonsense too. It’s another communist plot to destroy Western Civilization by preventing women from wanting to reproduce. It all boils down to the media and the schools brainwashing our people with communist propaganda. We take back those institutions then we can take back our country.
I assume that you are joking. White South Africans have resorted to escaping to Russia to keep from being killed by those they invited to the formerly most prosperous country in Africa. Haven't you ever heard of “Necklacing”? This is what the followers of Mandella did to those who opposed them. It involved putting a tire over the victims’ arms and bodies, dousing them with gasoline and setting them on fire.
