NOTE: A hat tip to my friend Leo in NJ for this. He got it from somebody else. Spread the word.
How many coal fired power plants are there in the world today?
Green New Deal?
Just look at this...
The EU has 468 - building 27 more... Total 495
Turkey has 56 - building 93 more... Total 149
South Africa has 79 - building 24 more... Total 103
India (thanks) has 589 - building 446 more... Total 1035
Philippines has 19 - building 60 more... Total 79
South Korea has 58 - building 26 more... Total 84
Japan has 90 - building 45 more... Total 135
Saved the BEST for last:
China has 2,363 - building 1,171 more... Total = 3,534
That’s 5,615 projected coal powered plants in just 8 countries.
USA has 15 - building 0 more...Total = 15
And Democrat politicians with their "green new deal” want to brainwash us and shut down those 15 plants in order to "save” the planet.
This is EXCELLENT!! I knew the rough idea about the number of coal plants, but had not yet seen actual numbers until now.
This makes the point. Whatever the USA does or doesn’t do won’t make a Tinker’s Dam regarding CO2 unless the rest of the world, especially China and India, reduce their coal-fired power plants as well.
The whole “global warming” and “climate change” gambits by Democrats are to create a *supposedly* sound, scientific basis to justify the federal government's power-grab and the passage of MORE laws to increase taxes and increased control of the privately owned power industry and its distribution. Never forget the *main* motivation they have!
"Oh, we will SAVE the planet!"
WAKE UP AMERICA! We are being played... again!
Interesting counts....
“...USA has 15...”

Tell your friend Leo to quit sending you B.S.
The US has 241 coal fired powered plants...
Here is the list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_coal-fired_power_stations_in_the_United_States
Five within fifty miles of me, West Virginia coal 150 miles upstream, .10/kwh!
https://www.statista.com/statistics/859266/number-of-coal-power-plants-by-country/
numbers don’t quite match...
LOL — Leo the Liar!
Coal fired ovens make the best pizza.
VOTE DEMOCRATS OUT.
MAKE DEMOCRATS GREEN SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Yes, misinformation like this doesn’t help. But the basic fact is correct.
Top 3 countries by coal emissions:
1) China - 7.421 tons
2) India - 1,588 tons
3) USA - 889 tons
USA could halve its emissions, and the effect would be a rounding error compared to China’s.
Best way to save the planet: bring manufacturing back to the USA where our operations are much more energy efficient.
“Coal generated 23% of United States electricity in 2021,...”
How many new plants?
Shall I google that for you?
I assume you have a special trusted source, but if that’s just Alphabet, then better for you to go there than me.
Thanks!
There you go again referring to actual facts rather than the commandments of the climate change religion.
Right you are, assuming Wiki’s numbers are correct.
You’re welcome.
We should be building them like crazy. We have lots of coal. Good mining jobs, cheap power. The economy would be much better off. Mexico should line the boarder with coal power plants and sell electricity back to the stupid Americans charging their coal powered cars.
US has way more Coal Fired Electrical Power plants.
I live 6mi from one, as the crow flies. Owned by TECO (Tampa Electric Company)
The Big Bend power station has a cool Manatee Viewing Center, it uses water from Tampa Bay to cool the generators and the warmer water from the exchange, the manatees have figured it out.
Its free to visit and worth it if you are in the Tampa area.
