Disturbing video shot aboard a JetBlue flight captured passengers clamoring to get off the plane in Newark – shouting that they were scared after several failed attempts to land at JFK Airport during bad weather.
“I’m not going back in the air,” one passenger is heard yelling at officials in the cabin.
Another man is seen pleading to get off the plane, which the airline said had been scheduled to land at JFK after a flight from Cancun, Mexico, on Thursday.
“My kids are panicking,” the man shouts. “We gotta get off this plane. It’s dangerous!
“We tried to land four times already … we’re scared to fly, we wanna get off! I don’t want to go to jail but it’s not right,” he said.
“I don’t care about JFK — it’s our lives! People are sick back there, people are fainting, people are throwing up! A little respect for human beings!” the man continues as other passengers also chime in about wanting to disembark.
JetBlue spokesman Derek Dombrowski told The Post that Flight 1852 diverted to Newark Liberty International Airport “due to weather” over JFK.
“Without proper customs processing available for the flight at Newark, the aircraft remained on the ground for 60 minutes and once the weather cleared departed again for JFK where it safely landed,” he said in an email.
“We apologize for the inconvenience this weather-related diversion created,” Dombrowski added.
The airline reportedly offered passengers $50 in flight credits for the inconvenience.

Gov. says...they get a wave and a nod...you get a cattle prod.
That cheap you have to figure there is some ex United management with JB.
Snakes?
Oh. I’ve heard that story — a good one.
Why? The airline is not in control of the weather. The pilot did the prudent thing in not trying to force a landing in bad weather. The passengers should thank the pilot.

Wrf. The other day AA made me transfer my luggage via train from Newark to LaGuardia. But when a passenger asks for it as an option it is a nono?
JetBlue is trash, though, they already booted out LetsgoBrandon masked people. Bunch of arse holes
They want border control everywhere, and to that end they make border control at the frontier not Pc. Basically it is not racist if it is government racism against every race!
I flew to Toronto in January in 2005 and we did 5 passes at the runway in a snowstorm. I am usually good on planes but that time I was gripping the armrests hard. People were crying in the cabin as the plane came in sideways and the then throttled up and at a 45% angle. Scary stuff. Pilot apologized profusely afterwards and came out to greet everyone leaving the plane.
The passengers should thank the flight crew for following the rules and diverting to Newwark because they are putting safety ahead of costs. The crew is well aware of what it costs to divert a flight, but they did the right thing, showed professionalism, and everything ended happily.
This is especially a problem outside the US where airlines put enormous scheduling pressure on the crews. The Lion Air 737 Max crash accident analysis shows that the captain knew almost immediately that the aircraft was sick because of the bent angle of attack sensor. Yet he tried to nurse the plane in the air and continue to their destination for 11 minutes while the FO looked up the emergency procedures in the manual that he was required to have memorized. The captain knew that the policy of the airline was to not pay the crew if they just returned to their takeoff airport where they could have diagnosed the problem and fixed it safely on the ground.
I would never criticize a flight crew for making a hard choice.
JetBlue needs to paint "Caveat Emptor" (Let The Buyer Beware) on their airplanes, and stamp it on their tickets.
Yikes! And you thought the Ukrainians had it bad.
Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.
The top tier airlines can pay more to hire the best qualified pilots. The budget airlines not so much. Couple that with all the quota requirements and I'd be a little hesitant to fly on these no frills carriers.
Probably because JetBlue does not have the rights to use those gates at that airport.
I had a similar experience 25 years ago on a charter airline flight coming back from Cancun to Boston. Logan airport was all fogged in. After circling for 45 minutes we landed at our alternate airport Hartford, CT. However, the only Customs Agent for Hartford had gone home for the evening. They had to get him to come to the airport to clear our flight so we could take off again. We sat on the ground for at least an hour in Hartford. That plane got really hot inside. We were not hooked up to the AC units. We ran out of water. People were getting pissed. I had Montezuma’s revenge.
Eventually, we took off and landed in Boston. About 4 hours late. Our limo driver had gone home. They had to send another limo/town car to pick us up.
This was a T&T Vacations Package.
I still refer to it as the vacation from H#ll.
Yet another reason I drive across the country versus flying.
Probably just to avoid a landing fee of a few hundred dollars.
Some people can’t take a few bumps.
