Ed Sheeran revealed that he films all of his song-writing sessions, after winning a bitter High Court fight over Shape of You.

The Suffolk singer, 31, said that he films all of his songwriting sessions to protect against future plagiarism claims.

In a preview of tonight's Newsnight interview, Sheeran spoke about a previous claim made in 2017 in the US about his song Photograph.

The artist said he 'personally' regretted settling over Photograph, saying he did not play the song for a long time.

Will this even help? He could have plagiarized it before

nope wouldn’t help in the slightest.

If he has heard a song before without even remembering it, and then when writing a song recalls it while thinking honestly it is something new, then this wouldn’t help.

It won’t help. He cannot prove where something originated in his thoughts, right?

There have been songwriters who borrow
parts of songs and get away with it. Other cases are worthy of court cases and suing.

Borrowing:
Beatles —Birthday
from: Just a Little Bit, Roscoe Gordon

Beatles—All You Need is Love
from Chanson d’Amour, Fontaine sisters
(the da, da, da, da, da after all you need is love)

Rod Stewart, Killing of Georgie, “oh Georgie stay” part
From: Don’t Let Me Down, Beatles
Lennon: “The lawyers were asleep on that one”

I would never admit to Sheeran plagiarizing one of my songs. That stuff is horrible.

Joe Biden wrote all the great hits in his day! He and Corn Pop would hang out with John and Yoko, Perry Como, Mozart, Stephen Foster, and they’d be in total awe of Joe’s ability to write music!

George Harrison - My Sweet Lord, 1970
Chiffons (Ronnie Mack) - He's So Fine, 1963

Was sued. Outcome: Harrison was found to have subconsciously plagiarised the song, a verdict that had repercussions throughout the music industry. Rather than the Chiffons song, he said he used the out-of-copyright Christian hymn "Oh Happy Day" as his inspiration for the melody.

Does he use Kodachrome, Ektachrome or perhaps a Fugi or Afgha film?

Sheeran’s music is derivative pap. Unless I was Coldplay, Elton John, or Neil Diamond, I wouldn’t be worried about him stealing my songs.

He was absolutely robbed on that one. On the other hand he is personally benefiting from our insane eternal copyright.Copyright needs to be rolled back to 2 Fourteen year terms that must be actually registered. The entirety of the Beatles catalog should be in the Public Domain, where it rightfully belongs.
