Totally! Men deserve a safe space to talk about how hard it is being paid better and what it’s like to fail up and the burden of manhood in general. /s

Men already have an affinity group and have for basically all of Western history. It’s called “the Patriarchy.”

Yeah, you COULD do a men’s group that was actually helpful for men in terms of dealing with toxic masculinity...

...a men’s affinity group would be an important part of DEI work IF the work of the group is to learn about systemic patriarchy and how men have internalized that; how patriarchy and toxic masculinity are influencing the company culture; how to be better allies to women and non-binary folks; etc. The group should hold itself accountable to the women’s affinity group. The work of undoing patriarchy is men’s to do.

Most companies already have two men’s groups – the C suite and the board.

People who belong to a dominant group, and react to a historically oppressed group trying to create support structures by saying THEY CAN’T HAVE ONE IF I DON’T GET ONE TOO are 100% the problem...

I suspect the mens forum creator is an incel...

They [men] DO have such a forum – it’s called the workplace.

My rule of thumb is my employment is there to serve the currently contracted customer. Nothing more. No ERGs. No other corporate culture movements. Avoid it all. It's a distraction.

Maybe she should watch a few commercials and see who is always portrayed as the idiot.

Maybe she should watch more commercials to see if the percentage of white males in the commercials is even close to the percentage of white males in society.

Maybe she should look at whites, particularly white police officers, being convicted of crimes after kangaroo courts.

Maybe she should look at the demographics of mayors, police chiefs, and fire chiefs in major U.S. cities.

I’m sure there are many more examples.

The workplace? They drink bottled water now and I doubt if there’s a lot of people standing around the water cooler anymore or the coffee maker for that matter... Most of conversation happens either in the gym, or perhaps at the Chinese buffet during lunch.

No sour grapes here because I was toast at that point in my career anyway but I did get passed over and denied a promotion by a selected female who had less credentials than I did.

There were more people mad about that than I was, like I said I was toast at that point in my career. I went ahead and retired and the illustrious person that took the promotion didn’t even make it through the obligation period to retire at that paygrade... 🙄 I could have managed at least that.
