A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed and two others were injured outside of the South Bronx High School as they walked home from school.
The University Prep High Schooler, who was not identified, was reportedly shot in the chest and has since died. Police were reportedly seen performing chest compression on her as blood pooled around her.
One other female, 16, and one male, 17, who both attended Mott Haven Village Prep High School, were also shot around 1.45pm on Friday outside of the high school on East 156th Street and St. Ann's Avenue. They reported sustained injuries in the shin and buttocks, respectively, according to police.

University Prep High is a very good school, so these were/are smart kids on their way to college.

Interesting fact. In the DOJ crime statistics they consider a Hispanic as a white guy if he kills a black person. If a black person kills a hispanic the Hispanic is counted as a black person. And if a white person kills a hispanic he is counted as a black.
So I can understand your confusion over CNN reporting what you said, problem is you weren’t aware of why.

I can’t say what, if any, race any of these people are. I’m not an anthropologist.
There are University Prep schools all over the country, one in our city. They always educate children who have the brains and perhaps grades to do well in college, though they might have come from schools that were not so good.

Perhaps they are good schools trying to do the impossible.
I apologize; my cynicism is directed more at the state of education and our culture generally.
Lots of children are very smart but often doomed by the family and local culture. Not only in black ghettos do children endure ridicule and worse for being a “bookworm,nerd, or questioning”.
