A businessman with a £130m fortune has told his children he won't be leaving them a penny when he dies, we can reveal.

Hospitality magnate Hamish Ogston, 74, is adamant he will give his entire fortune away to charity and let his three children fend for themselves in life when he is gone.

His three children Darcy, Digby and Isabella have forged their own careers in business and law while Digby is also studying for a PHD - and all are apparently content with their father's plan.

To Hospitality magnate Hamish Ogston.

Yo Hamish! You're family may have grifters, but many charities are too. Think about it...

Hamish, buy a seat on Spacex, and after that buy Jeff Epstein ‘s island. A yacht and helo round it out.

Put a casino and hotel there and die happy with a blonde and a Guinness in your hand.

Inherited wealth doesn’t lessen anyone’s character.

Inherited wealth doesn’t lessen anyone’s experience of life.

Reminds me of Bill Gates.

He got his start and made his primary fortune with Americans business. When he was ready to retire he said he would spend much of his money to help children.

Oddly enough (or not) almost all the children he has helped seem to be in other countries . Yes, fine help children in other countries. Yet don’t we have our own poverty in cities and places like Appalachia? I remember Louisville Ky estimated they have 1000 permanently homeless. One medium sized city alone.

Here is what Gates had donated to:
Organization Amount ($ millions)
GAVI 3,152.8(vaccines world wide)
World Health Organization 1,535.1
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria 777.6
PATH 635.2
United States Fund for UNICEF 461.1
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International 400.1
International Bank for Reconstruction and Development 340.0
Global Alliance for TB Drug Development 338.4
Medicines for Malaria Venture 334.1
PATH Vaccine Solutions 333.4
UNICEF Headquarters 277.6
Johns Hopkins University 265.4
Aeras 227.6
Clinton Health Access Initiative Inc 199.5
International Development Association 174.7
CARE 166.2
World Health Organization Nigeria Country Office 166.1
Agence française de développement 165.0
Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo 153.1
Cornell University 146.7
Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa 146.4
United Nations Foundation 143.0
University of Washington Foundation 138.2
Foundation for the National Institutes of Health 136.2
Emory University 123.2
University of California San Francisco 123.1
Population Services International 122.5
University of Oxford 117.8
International Food Policy Research Institute 110.7
International Institute of Tropical Agriculture 104.8

PS on the US UNICEF find it says they spend much of their funds to help poor overseas, so even that isn’t going here entirely.

My favorite bumper sticker says...”I’m spending my childrens inheritance”. But I’m not going to purposely steer it away from them either. You can’t time these things of course.

Says you.;-)

I know a lot of extremely wealthy people.

Those who made it from nothing are an entirely different breed from those who have had it handed to them.

Any idiot knows that.

Yet another rich dude exercising his infatuation with himself. Why announce this? Your children can find out how big a dick you are by themselves.

Both my boys set up a ROTH IRAs at 19. They are going to sit on it until retirement. Hopefully they will have a good nest egg.

Our younger son, 20, has decided to build and not buy. He will flip and make a few bob.

My family was worth a few M at one time. Circumstances and BAD business decisions arose and my sibling and I have been left with virtually nothing.

My boys learned (as well as I) that you can’t trust family in biz, and to SAVE and invest WISELY. Never presume you will be “taken care of”.

Yep. What my brother did to us. Ripped right through the biz and money.

Now, he’s on his butt.

True. Depends on the character and maturity of the person.

I knew 2 gals we grew up with who received 1M each from their family when they tuned 21.

Both started businesses and became successful.

Too many idle poor, too.

Largely because of the politicians funded by the "idle rich".

“...One of the ones I always scratch my head over is Tori Spelling and her money woes...”

Well, to be fair, Tori *did* have some money, but she blew it in bad real-estate deals (and has admitted it in interviews).

And politicians who ARE idle rich themselves. Exhibit "A" is Speaker of the House.
