From the article: the Michigan Department of Corrections listed him as a parole absconder at the time of his death.

So...the Michigan Department of Corrections is responsible for this perpetrator running around loose trying to kill innocent homeowners.

That was my thought too. It seems that a large percentage of violent crime is perpetrated by career criminals who are turned loose on the public when they should have been in custody. Demanding that this change systemically seems like a good theme for the November elections and beyond.

No doubt the offender was on the Absconder Recovery Unit’s caseload. But the department has a habit of underfunding that unit. That said, the only person really responsible for being an absconder is the absconder himself. I thought we were big on personal responsibility on this website. Or have we gone back to playing the blame game?
