I always take books to read if I am on an airline flight. I remember boarding once and young woman was reading a biography of Princess Diana. I could not imagine why anyone would want to read her life story.
This whole thing is like the movie Unforgiven. There was not one character with any positive characteristics.
While I get the fact that Unforgiven is a good movie, the one time I saw it was enough. I prefer my westerns to be of the classic morality play variety in which an untamed land needs to be civilized by strong men and women.
Try OPEN RANGE. It’s now my favorite western with Costner and Duvall. They are free range cattlemen who go up against a greedy corrupt land baron and his corrupt Sheriff. Yes, an old western theme, but it is exceptionally well done. I even liked Annette Bening. There’s a lot of chemistry between the 3 main characters, plus the other main characters work. You won’t be disappointed.
