The "aggressive" fox that Capitol Police captured Tuesday tested positive for rabies after biting at least nine people around Capitol Hill, according to District of Columbia Department of Health officials.
The female fox was "humanely euthanized" earlier Wednesday in order to test it for rabies, DC Health said Wednesday evening, noting that the agency is contacting "all human victims who were bitten by the fox."
Some on the internet were quick to call for the fox -- who was captured with the help of the Humane Rescue Alliance -- to be freed.
"As a fox, I cannot speak. And too often -- I have nobody to speak for me. They mock me in songs, they wear me as clothes, and they hunt me down like a criminal in my home. For what, I ask you?" the statement said.

I’m shocked people on the left don’t hate foxes simply because of Fox network.
I’m sorry for the poor fox.
After an encounter with a bat in upstate New York in 2008, the immunization process was a course 5 shots in my left arm over 4 weeks. No worse than getting 5 tetanus shots in the left arm. At that time the rabies rate in bats in upstate New York was 1 in 25 or 4 percent. 4% chance of contracting a fatal and as far as I know a not treatable disease after symptoms develop.
Took the shots.
Probably a friend of the “killer rabbit” that tried to attack Jimmy Carter in the 1970’s.
What does the fox say?
”I’m double boosted!”
Which politician gave the fox rabies?
Not surprising at all...
Even shaking hands with the vermin in DC could give you rabies, HIV, or syphilis...
They’ll blame Trump for taking revenge on the Rats.
The fox caught rabies from one of the political skunks that it bit.
What a surprise.
Kind of makes you wonder how many rabid animals are going to be showing up in the area in the near future. what with all the stray animals and rats, etc, other animals had to have gotten bit and infected.

I think the democrats infected the Fox
Not at all the same. A rabid animal will show signs within 10 days. Depending on the severity of the bite the decision to euthanize can be made to avoid further injury. But, with a wild animal the extreme measure is the first order to provide info quickly to thos affected.
As someone else wrote, it’s far better for the fox itself to have been euthanized.
Nothing good ever comes from biting a politician. 😏
Oh no, were you bitten?
Oh no, were you bitten?
Oh no, were you bitten?

Yes, a stray cat bit me. It probably didn’t have rabies, but it’s not the thing you can chance on.
They are really not too bad. 4 shots over 2 weeks, and they are all in the arm.
