Loaded with Windows 3.1 and DOS 5.0 I believe. I then bought copies of WordPerfect 5.1 and Quattro Pro 4.0. Several hundred dollars each. Which was a lot of money at the time. Both programs came with thick manuals that could fill a bookshelf - and that I never read.
“1992 was the year I bought my first PC.”
Me too. [I still have it in working condition]
1993 was when I bought my second.
Turns out it’s tough to fix a “broken” [from screwing around with settings and s/w loads] without a way to look info up.
Same experience here. Same year. I had Aldus Pagemaker and Word Perfect. A whopping 200MB hard drive!
Quattro Pro, I remember that. Didn’t care for WordPerfect though. Thought Word for DOS was much better.
Still use an orthodox file manager every day (think XTree)
[[ and that I never read. ]]
LOL Same here!
Ditto. A Wang SX386 40 mg HD and 2 mg RAM, Windows 3.0 and DOS 5. Upgrading to Windows 3.1 and then 3.1.1 was a big improvement.
I remember I bought MS Publisher for $100 and had to upgrade my RAM to a whopping 4 mg for it to function.
Like you, I never got around to reading the huge manuals.
