When I was in Kindergarten through 6th grade, I wanted to be an astronaut. My interest in girls, was just a curiosity, they cried a lot, they wanted to play “girly games” and they were largely tolerated.
I didn’t know squat about my teacher’s personal lives, and I wasn’t interested in hearing about their lives. I didn’t know if they were married or single, if they dated or who they dated. It wasn’t important and wasn’t part of the class curriculum, and shouldn’t ever be the student’s business.
Exactly! Though I remember feeling crushed when my second grade teacher, the angelic Miss Spencer, introduced us to her fiancé one spring morning before a long weekend.
