It took NASA and its partners nearly four dozen trips between 1998 and 2010 to haul the roughly 900,000 pounds worth of various modules into orbit that make up the $100 billion International Space Station. But come the end of this decade, more than 30 years after the first ISS component broke atmosphere, the ISS will reach the end of its venerable service life and be decommissioned in favor of a new, privately-operated cadre of orbital research stations.

How to piss away billions in space, not including transport and training of astronauts.
Translation: they’re going to burn it to destroy America and Russia’s greatest achievement in space. The WEF and global elites cannot have anything inspiring people to go to space. They want to keep them earthbound, under control, believing they will “own nothing and be happy.”
I guess you would rather not have America be a technology leader in space. Let private companies do it, then, and make the profits. I guess you want the money spent on welfare giveaways and transgender studies?
NASA is an amazing place—incredible technology and efficiency:

Where did you get that other than a desire to start a flame contest? Letting the space station burn up on reentry would be a huge pissing away of billions of dollars.
If they simply abandon it maybe some smart billionaire could take it over and attach a few rockets to it and move it up some.
I’d like to see Musk take it over, and expand it using his Starship flights.
He could keep it in orbit using the ion thruster technology he uses to get his Starlink satellites into position.

“Let private companies do it, then, and make the profits..”
In a word, yes. The private sector won’t piss away tens of millions on “muslim outreach”.
The private sector expects results. Government, not so much.

Biden’s FAA is doing everything it can to keep starship grounded. First, they don’t want him stealing NASA’s SLS thunder. Also Bezos is probably in the mix and they want to reward him and punish Musk.
Finally they are scared to death of Musk because he is an independent thinker and not part of the globalist cabal
The way NASA (and other governmental) projects work, is that the contracts are distributed among companies in a bunch of politicians' districts, who then kick back "campaign contributions" to the politicians. Congress would HATE for somebody like Musk to come along and damage those sweet deals.
