humankind

Statistically speaking (by my own, fairly exacting count), 99 percent of writers who use this word are stone idiots.

The other 1 percent are bad writers.

Years ago, Mrs DoodleBob and I went to Catholic Mass in town. It was local and convenient, and the Cry Room was helpful with our noisy litter.

The Priest loved to ad lib and ramble on during fixed parts of the Mass..."In union with the whole Church we honor Mary, the ever-virgin mother of Jesus Christ our Lord and God. We honor Joseph, her husband, the apostles and martyrs Peter and Paul, Andrew, and all the saints...and Bob and Mary in the front here I was at their home last week they're such good people and there's Crystal oh she's had such a tough time since Fred passed away and we pray for Fred too he had such a great laugh and...". It was annoying but convenience outweighed our conscience.

Then Father Modernity "updated" the Nicene Creed..." Who for us men and for our salvation, came down from Heaven, and was Incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary and was made Man HUMAN;

I bolded the HUMAN because the Priest literally elevated his voice on that one word, week after week while the Congregation remained "attached" to the actual text, as if to say "I will break you trads." Which was odd, because it was a N.O. Mass with all the modern dimensions, e.g. No Jesus on the Cross, the Priest carrying a mic like David Lee Roth, the Tabernacle hidden somewhere, and so on.

Mrs DB and I ultimately left for a Church in a different town that didn't look at us like war criminals when the kids acted like kids. Last we heard Father Modernity sometimes cries during Mass.
