Are you talking about precious metal currency coins? Then what about gold bars and/or bulk storage such as in Fort Knox? Incidentally, the nickel-based currency coin is under valued - worth hoarding modestly.
***if they let the FRN denominated fun house disintegrate... ***
That seems to be a large IF... if so, what about the $30 tril national debt and those holding those promissory notes?
***It would be chaotic, and a pain in the ass, but it would be a painful but quick way to actually reset in 1-2 years what took a century to corruptly ruin***
Reestablishing our currency on a solid value basis seems desirable. However, when folk mention to me about returning to the 'Gold Standard' I always ask them how much gold do they possess. 😉
Your scenario seems appealing; I hope it is still possible.

Biden threatens to investigate lawmakers who pass anti-grooming bills
🔥 They’re at it again! Biden is now threatening a huge group of U.S. public officials and health professionals with weaponized criminal investigation. Yesterday, responding to multiple stories from around the country, Peppermint Psaki told reporters during a White House briefing, “legislators who are contemplating these discriminatory [trans] bills have been put on notice by the DOJ and HHS that laws and policies preventing care that health care professionals recommend for transgender minors may violate the Constitution and the federal law.”
Now, I have been REPEATEDLY assured by federal justice officials that trying to interfere with political processes is nothing less than insurrection. And yet here are Biden and Psaki trying to frighten state politicians with DOJ investigations so they won’t pass pending bills intended to protect children from Mengelian surgical experimentation. So.
🔥 Fox News reported an article yesterday headlined, “New Jersey to Require 2nd Graders Learn About Gender Identity in Fall, Alarming Parents.” The chilling sub-headline explains, “Sample NJ lesson plan says, ‘You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts’.”

Yes, the minted coinage. There is a huge quantity in the hands of the citizenry.
As for the bulk storage, they should dip into it for further minting but I doubt that any serious depletion of the physical has taken place merely from the fact that it’s a lot easier to transfer ownership and leave it in place than to ship it. A pallet, with about a 3.5X3.5 foot stack of bars on it weights 20 tons which is about the max highway truck load limit sans overweight permits.
