As for the bulk storage, they should dip into it for further minting but I doubt that any serious depletion of the physical has taken place merely from the fact that it’s a lot easier to transfer ownership and leave it in place than to ship it. A pallet, with about a 3.5X3.5 foot stack of bars on it weights 20 tons which is about the max highway truck load limit sans overweight permits.
That would all be encouraging news; the corruption at high levels in this country is so great now, it is difficult to know what to believe.
I don't think Fort Knox is the sole repository for our gold; I remember when the World trade Center collapsed in 2001, there was an immediate {secret?} project to tunnel into a subterranean vault from the subway system in order to retrieve an undisclosed amount of gold storage.
